Programme Overview
The Leeds Learning Alliance Leaders’ Breakfast Meetings bring together leaders from education, business, health and community sectors across the city.
Each event offers the opportunity to strengthen existing relationships, make new connections and hear from inspiring guest speakers who are shaping Leeds and beyond. Through shared insight, conversation and collaboration, we explore the ideas and partnerships that can help create better outcomes and greater opportunities for young people and communities.

Guest Speakers
Nick Barley
Director, National Poetry Centre
Nick Barley has been Director of the National Poetry Centre, a new Leeds-based organisation which is the brainchild of the Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, since 2024.
He is also a Professor in Practice at Durham University. Nick was previously Director of the Edinburgh International Book Festival, one of the world’s best-respected literary festivals. He has been appointed a Chevalier of the Order of Merit by the French Government and an Honorary Doctor of Letters by Edinburgh University. Nick was chair of the International Booker Prize judges in 2017.
Dr Temitope Ademosu
Director of Communities, Environment, Housing and Health, Leeds City Council
Dr Temitope Ademosu is Director of Communities, Environment, Housing and Health at Leeds City Council, where she leads a broad portfolio of high-profile services that directly affect the lives of people across the city.
Her directorate works with communities across Leeds to improve the places where people live, work and spend time. This includes services that help keep the city clean, safe, well-regulated and well-maintained, from household waste collection and street cleansing to environmental protection and the management of parks and green spaces.
Dr Ademosu also oversees work that supports the council’s response to the climate emergency and promotes access to green spaces where residents can play, be active and connect with their local area.
Her responsibilities span community hubs and libraries, welfare and benefits support, social housing, affordable housing delivery, homelessness prevention and engagement with the private rented sector. Through this work, she helps ensure that residents have access to essential support, safe housing and services that strengthen communities.
As part of her leadership role, Dr Ademosu supports a strong focus on public health and wellbeing. This work is centred on creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to live well, recognising the wider factors that influence health, including housing, education, employment, social care, physical activity and the local environment.
She also leads services that contribute to safer and stronger communities, including work to reduce antisocial behaviour and crime, promote community safety, support equality and diversity, strengthen emergency planning and response, and work collaboratively with residents, partners and local organisations.
Her portfolio includes youth support programmes that help young people take part in positive activities and contribute to community wellbeing. This wider community safety work supports priorities set out in the Leeds Community Safety Strategy 2024–27, helping to ensure Leeds remains a safe and welcoming place for its residents.
Across her role, Dr Ademosu brings together environmental, housing, community safety, public health and wellbeing services to help deliver better outcomes for people and places across Leeds.
