Richard has more than 30 years’ experience working in education as a Principal, Senior Leader, Director of Sport, Partnership Development Manager and teacher of Physical Education.

Richard currently works as the Principal of Leeds City Academy, a vibrant multi-cultural school in the heart of Leeds, which boasts a student demographic of over 40 different first languages and a tapestry of cultural backgrounds, faiths and heritages.

Leeds City Academy is a wonderful school and has undergone significant and sustained improvement in recent years & Richard is proud of the work of the school under his seven years as Principal, and in the profound impact made by focusing on inclusion and in embedding a strong culture based on a clear set of values and principles.

The work of the school has received both national recognition and awards and recently featured in the PTI’s ‘Well Educated, leading schools with Wonder and Wisdom’ book, through an article untitled ‘Building Educated Citizens’, where Richard illustrated how the schools culture has been transformed through a values centred commitment to young people.
