On Friday 3rd October, the Leeds Learning Alliance (LLA) welcomed more than 100 guests to its Leaders’ Breakfast at the Carr Manor Community Hub. These special gatherings provide a unique opportunity for collaboration, inspiration, and the sharing of powerful stories that shape education and community leadership.

We extend our thanks to Leeds Building Society, whose sponsorship made the event possible. To learn more about Leeds Building Society, visit: www.leedsbuildingsociety.co.uk

The morning featured powerful talks from leaders and community representatives. Ed Whiting OBE, Chief Executive of Leeds City Council, spoke about the importance of collaboration in driving forward the refreshed Leeds Ambitious Roadmap. He highlighted the city’s shared vision for a healthier, more inclusive and sustainable Leeds, underpinned by the four ambitions of being Healthy, Growing, Thriving and Resilient. His talk can be watched in full on the Members’ Zone, accessible to all LLA Members.

The audience also heard from Asad Razzaq MBE, founder of CATCH in Harehills, one of our Members. He shared the remarkable story of how a neglected piece of land was transformed into a safe and vibrant space for young people. He spoke about CATCH’s “Peace Plan” and its vision to foster peace across Leeds.

In one of the most moving moments of the morning, two young people from CATCH, James and Saahibah, shared their personal stories. Both spoke candidly about the challenges they had faced, and how CATCH gave them the support and opportunities to rebuild their lives. Now, they are giving back to the community by helping others to overcome similar struggles.

James, an apprentice at CATCH, speaks about his personal experiences growing up in Leeds

The event once again demonstrated the power of bringing together leaders, organisations and young people to share experiences, spark ideas, and bring positive change.
